BLOGGER

Blogger gets me again.

It's Sunday morning here in my little corner of the blogosphere and all through the house, not a creature is stirring, not even... Well maybe a mouse.
I haven't seen a lot of sign that they're around, but we usually have one or two this time of year.

I'm getting off subject, and that's starting to put me in a better frame of mind, and I don't want that happening until I pitch my bitch.

So, it's Sunday morning, everyone in the house is still sleeping and I grab a cup of coffee and sit down by the bay window to watch the beginning of yet another snow storm.
We may get 10 to 18 inches on top of the foot we got Friday night and yesterday.
And to finally post a few pictures of the ice storm that put 300,000 people out of power. When much to my delight GD Blogger won't let me upload the pictures.
So all of you who have been hounding me for pictures will just have to wait.

All one of you.

Who asked nicely, once, a few days ago.

That is.

Now I've got to go and warm the Jeep up and get ready to do some more plowing.

Those living in warmer climbs, like South Texas, and Florida, (Gods waiting room we up North call it), can kiss my grits. :0).

Maybe I'll post some plowing pictures later.

We picked Matt up at the airport last evening, and had a nice dinner on the way home.

It,s promising to be a lot merrier around here this Christmas.
I'll never forget the warm and fuzzy feeling I get seeing him walk through the gate when he arrives home.

Or the empty sadness that comes over me watching him walk back through on his way off to where ever the Army wants him to be.

It's sounding like they aren't going to let him just do his last five months and be done with it.
There's a Joe rumor that they're going to Afghanistan.
Hopefully just a rumor, because he was told to get his passport together while home and prepare to go to Thailand to train some of their forces.

We'll make a holiday wish that the latter is true.

Now out to fight the elements....

Is that a smug grin I see Dad??? And Mom?

I know Mic knows what I'm talking about.

I guess my bitching did a little good, cause Blogger relented and let me upload a couple of picks before going back to sleep.

Here's a little of what our world looked like before the Snow covered everything up.

We're back to no go on the uploads, so I'll try to get some more up later.
One last thing, we have some new heroes. The electric line crews that are here working around the clock to get the power back on.
They come from as far away as Florida, and Canada, and work up to eighteen hours a day.
Some won't get home for Christmas, and without them we would be in a lot worse situation.

  1. I am glad Matt is home despite the elements. Maybe that will warm things up there. My brother and sister-in-law are supposed to be flying in to Logan today but I am not optimistic given the forecast.

Mark has been home since Friday. He has a "friend" now so we don't see him much these days. Its just nice knowing he is around.

No smug grins here, although it's 71F here in God's waiting room. And I will have my blower out today as well, except it's a leaf blower :)

  2. 71!!! #$%$$ %#@@#%%.
    There I feel better.
If their comming in to Logan early they may be alright.
But we're getting around and inch an hour here now.

Great to hear that Mark is home, and that he has a "friend".
Hope his shin splints are getting better.

Don't work up to much af a sweat running that leaf blower.

  3. no smugness here, it's 29 degrees with freezing rain expected before dayfall. Therapy is canceled for tomorrow and we're all snuggling in, at least till I have to go to work. I don't get called off for bad weather...they call in more of us!

Those pics remind me why I HATE the songs "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland" all I see is cold and misery and trees waiting to fall....on my house.

But thanks for working so hard to get them posted!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Matt's remaining time in the Army.

  4. I know what you mean Ms.
But those pics are of ICE, all ice. It hadn't snowed yet.
There were 300,000 homes and business's without power. It's down to 4000 now, and some of them won't have power until the first week of January. It was 12 below zero last night.
It's supposed to warm into the 40s tomorrow and 50s for Christmas day, but it's going to rain.
    what a winter!
Oh well, only four months till spring. Or mud season that is.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  5. I don't think my state would know what to do with all that snow, we just seem to get the killer cold. Nice to know you got to see Matt. Glad you have power.

We've had about 3 " so far this year with 2" of those ice. Love the pics...reminds me of bob newhart, somehow.

  13. Infantry Dad,
Hi and thanks for stopping by and for all of your support. Matt and your family are now in my thoughts and prayers, always.

I am thoroughly enjoying reading your blog and I definitely appreciate your sense of humor! Looks like you have some good taste in movies and your response to the "belt color" question in your "about me" section cracked me up! Ah, you are funny!

And I see you live in New England? I spent a summer working in New Hampshire (Moultonborough) and I fell in love with N.H. Your pictures are just as beautiful as the real thing!

I'll be back to read again soon. Take care.
